Last month, some of NYC was devastated with the aftermath of Storm Sandy. There are still many who are left homeless, cold, and lost most, if not all of their personal belongings. I have seen in my community alone, people who have opened their homes to strangers, or set up a donation site. We were fortunate. On Thanksgiving day, I couldn’t help but think of families who didn’t have a turkey on their table, or spent their holiday in a shelter.
I’ve been amazed by the thoughtfulness of people in NYC, and willingness to help others. They say New Yorkers are hard, mean, rude.. well, you get the point. I’m not sure I agree with all that, because after devastation hits home, New Yorkers pull together to help each other out. Everyone is treated like a neighbor (you know… the one’s you actually like..)
My toddler is use to helping me gather things from our own pantry and closets for a local woman’s shelter, but this time was a little different. Not only did we pack boxes of clean children’s clothes and our old winter coats, but we also went out and purchased necessities people in hard hit areas need, such as water, diapers, baby formula, food, clean socks, and paper products such as toilet paper and Kleenex tissues.
While everyone gets caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, think of ways you can show someone you care, even if it is just a small gesture. Right now, when you purchase specially marked boxes of Kleenex brand bundle packs, you will also receive a code to redeem for a Kleenex Brand Care Pack. You can find out more about the program, or redeem your code by visiting Kleenex. Also, be sure to connect with Kleenex on Facebook for more information.
I wrote this review while participating in an ambassador program by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of the Kleenex brand and received product samples and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
