I’ve always been a compact car kinda girl, especially living in NYC. Parking is just easier when you have a smaller car, and it’s also easier to get in and out of traffic with a compact car. Since having kids, however, I’ve had to trade in my compact car for a more baby-gear-friendly vehicle that can accommodate our ever growing need for space. My husband still drives a compact car and doesn’t wish to upgrade to a bigger car any time soon. He doesn’t have a need for more space and with his commute, a compact car just works.
We had the opportunity to test drive the Kia Rio for a week, and while it held our entire family of four (with two car seats) it took a lot of getting used to on my end. For my hubby, he loved it compared to his sporty compact car. The handling, leg room, and fully-loaded capabilities, he felt it was a step up from the car he already owned. The Kia Rio starts at a little over $13,000 and fully loaded brings you just above $20,000, making this a fully loaded compact car you don’t want to overlook!
For my needs, the Kia Rio just won’t work, but in my smaller-vehicle days, the Rio would have been a luxury for me to own. I love that Kia cars are functional, safe, AND affordable! You don’t have to sacrifice style for price because Kia cars are all streamlined and look just as sleek as their higher-priced opponents. Disclosure: My family received a 2013 Kia Rio to test drive for one week.
