Most of my husband’s family is overseas, and although he did not grow up with them, he does miss them a lot. The last time he saw them was about 5 years ago, when they came for our wedding. It was nice that they could share our special day with us! He often talks about missing them and wished they were able to watch our little girls grow. He speaks with them at least once a month, but seeing them is completely different than just having a phone conversation. I’ve been telling him to set up Skype since our first daughter was born, but he didn’t think they would be able to set it up in Greece. I’m not sure why he though this- they have computers and Skype available there, but he just didn’t think to ask them if it was possible.
Last year I was on Skype with my cousin when I received a message from my husband’s cousin in Greece. He searched for us on Skype and found us! Within minutes we were connected and he was able to see our family, for the very first time. It was such a great moment for my husband, and we knew instantly that this would be a great thing for our families!
This past summer I attended a Logitech event where they unveiled their latest in web-cam technology: the Logitech HD TV Cam designed specially for Skype. This isn’t your typical web cam where you can see just the face of the person you are talking to. Instead, this device connects to your TV and can be mounted so that your friends and family can see you in the comfort of your living room! We were able to Skype with his family and it was like having them in our home, talking to use from across the room. It truly was an amazing experience, but I did have one complaint: Each time we Skype with his family, I have to make sure the living room is clean! Connecting with our family overseas has never been more person- except in person!
Do you Skype a lot with friends and family? The Logitech HD TV Cam with Skype really does change the video experience. You can find out more by visiting Logitech. Also, be sure to connect with Logitech on Facebook and Twitter!
