Makeup and me- we have a love hate relationship. I love it, it hates me. I can never pick the right cosmetics for my skin type or tone. When I do fund cosmetics I like, I can’t seem to find a shade that matches my skin tone. Apparently I’m in between colors. When I was contacted to try out the new Avon Extra Lasting Liquid Foundation, I actually had to think twice. How can a PR rep pick out a color for me when I can’t even do it myself? You can say that I was more than amazed when the foundation came and it matched my skin perfectly. When I applied this new Avon formula, I was very impressed with the result. The Extra Lasting Liquid Foundation has buildable coverage so you can use a little extra around the deep circles of your eyes for those nights that your toddler thinks 3am means it’s time to party. I’ve been wearing this foundation in the sticky NYC heat and it has held up pretty well! I don’t even feel like I am wearing makeup, and it blends so evenly without caking. I can honestly say that I have found a new foundation (and not because I received a complimentary item!) When you think of Avon, or at least when I do, I don’t really think of top of the line makeup. This foundation is definitely up there. For only $12, you get a decent sized bottle and unbeatable coverage. My skin is typically combination and I feel that this one little magical bottle was able to smooth out my dry spots without being greasy or oily.
On to the lips… I NEVER wear lipstick because I am SO clumsy, it usually ends up all over my face, teeth, chin – everywhere except my lips! I like to stick to lipgloss, but then my hair gets caught in it and makes an even bigger mess. I have tried lip stains before, but I just look like I got punched in the face. NYC New York Color Smooch Proof 16 HR Lip Stain will not budge. It sits on your lips without looking dried out. I love the applicator brush, as it allows you to create more definition to your lips, like a pencil, without the awful pencil lines. I do warn you – the color of the tube is MUCH lighter than the actual product, so when you purchase this make sure you keep this in mind! You can get it for $4.99 at your local drugstore.
Now, you can’t put on makeup without first setting the stage. You need to prep your skin in order to create a smooth canvas to apply your makeup. I love a lightweight primer such as Rimmel London Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. What makes this primer different from others? It works. And at only $8.99 you get 5 in 1 results: smoothes and resurfaces skin, hydrates and protects, mattifies to reduce shine, reduces the appearance of large pores and evens skin tone. It’s not sticky, and it doesn’t flake off like other products I have used. Plus it is lightweight and doesn’t make you feel like you have layers of makeup on you face! You can find this primer at your local drugstore.
