Halloween is one of the most exciting times for my family. We all get really into the season, decorating the house, making treats for classmates, and attending multiple Halloween events throughout October. As the kids are getting older, their Halloween interests are shifting from cute styles and favorite characters to more spooky themes and scenes. Last week, I shared my love for Luigi with them by giving them a Luigi costume and a copy of Luigi’s Mansion for their Nintendo 3DS. Luigi himself isn’t spooky, but the idea of a haunted mansion and banishing ghosts is right in line with the theme of the season.
I’ve loved Luigi from the moment I laid eyes on his 8-bit green character. While everyone was fawning over Mario, thinking he was superior as the main character, I loved the guy on the sidelines. Maybe it was because he matched the 1-up mushrooms, or perhaps because I watched his character grow from the guy on the sidelines into a character that has his own special ability of super jumps in Super Mario Bros 2. Whatever it was, one thing was consistent, Luigi was always my favorite in the character lineup of Mario Bros. The best part? My 6 year old eagerly gave up her planned costume once she saw the Luigi costume Nintendo sent us to celebrate Luigi’s Mansion for Nintendo 3DS. So, I get to see one of my favorite people dressed up as my favorite character!
Luigi’s Mansion isn’t a new release. It was introduced in the Nintendo Game Cube days, and then reintroduced for Nintendo Wii U, where I played it for the first time. If you’ve been following a while, then you know how much I love our Nintendo 3DS devices. The portability and ability for each child to play their favorite games individually is everything during road trips. If you haven’t played Luigi’s Mansion before, I’ll tell you a little about it.
In a twisted turn of events, it is now Mario who needs rescuing. By solving tricky problems and sucking up spooky spirits, Luigi proceeds on his journey to find his brother. There is now even a two-player mode! You can find out more about Luigi’s Mansion and all the platforms it is available on by visiting Luigi’s Mansion for Nintendo.
Just in time for the holiday season, you can get your copy of Luigi’s Mansion for Nintendo 3DS for about $40 on Amazon.
