Despite the school year being over, my kids tell me lunch still has to be made. I really thought I would be able to skip that step of pretend-feeding my kids. Oh, in case you didn’t know, pretend-feeding is when you throw something edible in your child’s lunchbox that they love to eat at home only for them to bring it back uneaten. It’s more for show. Chocolate peanut butter sandwiches are the only thing they will actually eat, but that’s because I have a secret tool- a set of cookie cutters! It started with my oldest- I would make fun monthly-themed cutouts for her sandwiches. My middle daughter wasn’t buying it- until I made her one in the shape of a person. She got a kick out of tearing the little person limb by limb while exclaiming each time, “HAHA I ATE YOUR LEG/HEAD/ARM!!” She’s a beast, but whatever gets her to eat, right?
