Every weekend my hubby and I have dinner with either his parents or mine. It’s nice for the kids to spend time with their grandparents and it’s awesome to get a day off from cooking and doing the dishes. I know some families have a traditional family dinner once a week, but with us it’s almost an impromptu, but expected family dinner. Does that make sense? We never plan it until the day of, but if we don’t visit our parents then we might get that dreaded phone call, “what happened to you guys?!?!?”
Although meals during family dinner are always different, one this is always the same and it’s a Baskin-Robbins ice cream cake for dessert. This wasn’t always the standard, as we started off with me making homemade cheesecake each weekend, then it became cookies, and soon after was store bought pastries. Yes, I got lazier as the years went on! My mother in law had actually requested a simple ice cream cake one weekend, and it just stuck! It seems to be the one thing that everyone enjoys, regardless of the season. We stick to the typical chocolate/vanilla with crunchies because it has something for everyone, whether you are a fan of chocolate or vanilla!
This holiday season, Baskin-Robbins started to carry holiday ice cream cakes. I headed to
my local Baskin-Robbins to check out their selection and they only had one of each cake. I soon found out that these cakes are usually pre-ordered, so if you are looking to purchase a holiday ice cream cake from Baskin-Robbins, be sure to put your order in ahead of time! There are three holiday cakes to choose from: Elf, Snowman, or Santa. My toddler fell in love with the Elf cake, so we brought it home with us.I personally loved the detail in the Santa cake- but I wasn’t about to argue with her- ice cream tastes just as good, regardless of the character on the cake! The best part about pre ordering your cake is that you can choose any flavor ice cream you like from their 31 flavors! The cake I picked up was plain vanilla, my fave!
We were also looking to pick up some festive individual treats, but the manager informed
me that they were just getting ready to roll them out this weekend, which is great, because it gives me a reason to go back soon! My favorite novelties are the flying saucers, which is the vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two chocolate cookies. Their holiday novelties are very similar, but add friendly holiday faces to this tasty dessert:
Check out our friendly Elf. I was actually surprised that my toddler was willing to eat the elf’s face!
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Baskin-Robbins. I received a gift card to facilitate my shopping experience and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.
Oh I would love to just get an ice cream cake instead of cooking for Christmas!
That’s almost too cute to eat!!
We just adore Baskin Robbins and also love our usual family dinners!
