As the new school year begins, staying organized is my top priority. I rely on my phone a lot and various apps to help me stay on track, and I’d love to share some of my favorite apps with you.
Saving money and sifting through weekly circulars is something I do every Thursday. As soon as those weekend flyers come in, I’m already looking through my go-to shops and making lists that I hope I won’t forget about. And then I lose my list, forget what I needed, the circulars get recycled because hubby won’t leave them lying around, and we start the same routine the following Thursday. Until I found out about Flipp. Flipp is a handy phone all available for iOS and Android devices where you have access to many of your local weekly circulars right in your hands! You can search for specific items you need or browse the circulars, while also making shopping lists. How convenient is that!? And since I rely on my phone so much, the chances of leaving the house without my phone are slim, while losing a piece of paper as a shopping list are high. This is one app that is a must have, for sure!
Raise your hand if making your child lunch is both, redundant and discouraging. I call my daughter’s lunch a “for show” lunch because I’m only making it to show that I’ve made my child a lunch, not because she will actually eat it. I spend time placing healthy options in the little bento squares, thinking she will take notice and appreciate the time and attention I put into her lunch. And then I realize she’s almost 6, and she really doesn’t care about all that fluff.. So in my moment of clarity, I turned to what works best- having fun with lunch. With LaLa Lunchbox we work together to choose her foods. She needs to fill her lunchbox with a fruit, veggie, protein, and snack (which is usually a carb.) She gets to choose what she wants, and I usually plan with her from Saturday so we can shop for the items she would like to see in her lunchbox. So far it’s worked for summer lunches, I’m hoping we can keep up this routine once school starts.
The Cozi Family Organizer App is great for those families with busy schedules. From school to after school activities, it can be hard keeping track of everything. Like that time I showed up to gymnastics with my little one when in fact it was a ballet class for my older daughter. Oops! Let’s not let that happen again! You can set reminders and share the account with other’s, like your husband, so the whole family can stay organized and on top of their game.
Keeping track of homework wasn’t so bad at the beginning of the year, but then more activities got thrown in the mix and there were many mornings of panic over missed homework assignments. With The Homework App, you can easily keep track of when assignments are due so this doesn’t happen.
We don’t use the school bus yet, but Here Comes the Bus is great for families who rely on this method of transportation. If your bus isn’t on schedule, you can get an alert so you won’t wait for it too long on a cold or rainy day. Didn’t you always wish there was an app like this growing up!? If your school district isn’t signed up to use this app, tell them about it. They will need to be signed up in order for you to get school bus location updates.
I would love to hear some of your favorite apps for getting organized for back to school!
Having 5 kids, I too need to get more organized so maybe I need to do this as well. It gets confusing after awhile.
