When my hubby and I first got married, he had never touched a washing machine. An old 3 cycle top loader was already in our basement when we moved in, so we decided to use that until we were able to get a new machine. Within a few months the machine wasn’t working anymore and we decided to get a front loading machine.
The old front loader we had included many cycles, but I only used one – the quick cycle. I didn’t think it was necessary to use a long cycle when our clothes could be washed in a fraction of the time. Boy was I wrong. After I got my Whirlpool Machines, I learned that the quick cycle is only for a few pieces of clothing, and uses more water and energy than a regular cycle. Where did I learn this? By following #whirlpoolmoms on twitter! Amazing, the wealth of information you can find about laundry these days.
Since my hubby was so use to using that one cycle when he would help me with the laundry, he was not interested in learning how to use these new machines with all these fancy features. My new favorite feature on my Whirlpool washing machine is the “My Cycle” feature. I have a cycle set up for cloth diapers, towels, baby clothes, regular clothes, and sheets. This feature makes learning a new machine less daunting for him and beneficial to me – because he can help me out!
My second favorite feature is the Jeans Cycle. I put a few pairs of jeans, turn to the Jean Cycle and when they are done, the dryer has Jean Cycle as well – which means a super easy setup and a perfect amount of time and heat leads to completely clean and dry jeans in no time! With the Whitest Whites cycle, our socks and white t-shirts have never been whiter! With all these features, you are sure to find one that works for you – and if you don’t, you can MAKE a cycle!
This past weekend I tried the Bulky cycle for the first time. It has gotten a little brisk in NYC, so I had to pull out my big comforter. The machine washed the comforter like a champ and didn’t even wobble on the spin cycle – something that often happened with my old front loader. The noise would be so loud, you could hear the machine slamming against the floor from upstairs. The Whirlpool Duet did not even make a peep of stress sounds – making me feel that this is a truly solid machine!
Thank you Whirlpool and Mom Central for this awesome opportunity!!
