National Colic Awareness Month with Born Free (#Giveaway!) #newbornfree

March 1, 2012 marked the first year for National Colic Awareness month! What better company than Born Free to lead the way! Colic is one of those baby “things” that isn’t really understood too much. Is colic a belly ache? Is it gas? Is it just general fussiness? Maybe it is your baby adjusting to life outside the womb. Either way, it can be very frustrating to new parents. My little girl suffered from colic during her first few weeks and along with her, my hubby and I suffered as well. We tried everything from changing my diet (she was breastfed) to trying different bottles, pacifiers, swaddling, rocking, swinging, gripe water, chamomile tea, you name it, we tried it. Typical of colicky babies, she had a pattern to her discomfort. Each night between 6pm and 10pm she would cry with no consolation. We didn’t realize it was colic until her pediatrician explained that her symptoms coincided with colic, and she would just have to outgrow it. It didn’t stop us from comforting her each night, and as you can imagine, it really took a toll on my husband and I. We both felt helpless with no end in sight. At that point, we weren’t living, we were surviving.

Since colic may be caused by gas bubbles in your baby’s belly, Born Free has developed their bottles with active flow technology that has been clinically shown to PREVENT colic symptoms.
