When I think of Halloween, I think candy corn. When Christmas season is in swing, I think peppermint and hot cocoa, and when valentines day rolls around, I’m all for Sweethearts candy. I remember being young and disappointed that I didn’t have access to sweethearts all year long/ but maybe that’s what was so special about them- the anticipation of finding them on the shelves right next to the clearance Christmas decor and chocolate hearts.
My oldest daughter can now experience the magic I felt each time I opened a fresh box of Sweethearts. The beloved candy from Necco is still around and even has more modern phrases such as “text me” to add to their famous one liners. This year, everyone in my daughter’s preschool class will get their very own box of Sweethearts. What makes them special is the new box that let’s kids get creative and color in their own treat! I feel that creativity in the classroom has gone out the window since common core was introduced, but this is a fun way to let little ones have a little fun and get those creative juices flowing!
Next week my preschooler will be putting together goodie bags for her classmates which will include a Color Your Own Sweethearts box along with crayons to get them started. If the students decide to share their unique designs with Sweethearts, they can enter to win some pretty neat prizes, one of them being a $1,000 savings bond! You can find out more about the contest by visiting ColorYourOwn.
Will you be participating in this fun contest? I would love to see your entries, so please come back and link up if you decide to enter!
Disclosure: Sweethearts candies were provide for my daughter’s class. All opinions are my own.

How fun that you can color the box! Our daughter loves Sweethearts. She works at a grocery store and came home last week with 4 boxes because they were just 25¢ each and she thought that was such a bargain, LOL.
