I can’t believe my hubby has never played the old computer game, Oregon Trail. Now that it is making it’s way back into our gaming systems, my husband has actually expressed interest in trying it out. We received a copy of Oregon Trail for Nintendo Wii to review and we both have very different views on it.
The point of Oregon Trail is to take your family on a 2,000 mile journey from Independence Missouri to Oregon City during the 19th century.

From a person who has played the original Oregon Trail, I found the Wii version to be very technical and a bit complicated to get started. Remember – the last time I played it was before graphics and excessive options were available in technology. I wasn’t use to all the bells and whistles that came along with the game. You actually have to take time to read through the menus and perform the tasks that are asked of you.
From my hubby’s (first time Oregon Trail gamer) experience, he easily maneuvered through menus and was off on his trail rather quickly. He had absolutely no expectations of the game as I did, and he adjusted well to the style of the game.
Regardless of who is playing, there is definitely a learning curve to the game. You have to be patient and read the menus, but it is still a great game. I love he changes that were made to keep up with the change in technology. All in all this is a great educational game that can be enjoyed by the entire family!
You can purchase Oregon Trail for Wii or 3DS at Amazon for under $20!
Disclosure: I received a complimentary sample to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own.

I like how you gave the perspective from someone who played the original. A friend and me are talking about how the new versions that are coming out are so different from the original. I wish we could get the original, but I may look on amazon for Wii version and give it a try.
