My little girl is old enough to enjoy family game night and I’ve been looking into games that are age appropriate. We’ve tried some games to teach her about taking turns and “not everyone is a winner,” but I think she is still a little TOO young to grasp that concept. Instead, we discovered cooperative games, where everyone who is playing works together to achieve a goal.
Peaceable Kingdom is a company that specializes in cooperative games that kids and parents can enjoy while bonding during family game time. Instead of competing and working against each other, children can work together, have fun, and remain entertained throughout the game.
Since my toddler is obsessed with cats, I thought it would be fun to play The Great Cheese Chase game by Peaceable Kingdom. In this game, players work together to get the mice to the finish line before the cat. It was interesting to watch my toddler enjoy a game that she felt she was good at, instead of having a meltdown that she didn’t get to win a game. Any parent can appreciate that! A big plus to The Great Cheese Chase board game is that the game is 100% green and made from soy and corn based products. How cool!? Although the game is recommended for children ages 5 and up, my 3 1/2 year old was able to understand the point of the game and enjoy game play.
Along with board games, Peaceable Kingdom also makes stickerbooks! My little girl has always been fond of stickers and I find stickerbooks to be the best thing to bring with us when we are on the go. They keep her busy when we are in a restaurant, doctor’s office, or visiting friends who don’t have kids her age to play with.
If you love the idea behind Peaceable Kingdom, and would love to win a cooperative game and stickerbook of your choice, be sure to check out Peaceable Kingdom and leave me a comment with your choices.
