As a mom of two girls, I stress the importance of creativity and individuality. I know all too well the hurdles many girls face during their younger years where peer relationships influence everything they say and do. Not one day goes by where I explain to them, especially my 6 year old, that while having meaningful friendships are important, you must also be your own person. I’m starting to think she gets it, based on stories about her day, but as all moms, I still worry that she will question herself more than she should.
The toys they ask for are typically things they see on TV or their friends have. We’ve never owned any Bratz toys, but a close friend has an entire collection of them. So, while I’m not very familiar with Bratz, my girls are. I recently learned that Bratz launched a new collection of toys in their Music Festival Vibes collection that are designed to celebrate each girl’s individuality and style. We received two items to check out, which included the Yasmin doll and the Music Festival Vibes Tent which comes with markers to customize it yourself. I love this idea, because I think kids can appreciate their toys when they have a chance to make it look the way THEY want it to.

My middle daughter loves her Yasmin doll. She asks why her belly shows, and I’m not sure why she couldn’t have a full shirt, but I explained to her that Yasmin is going to the beach in her pretend play. She comes with a clothing change, and a few small accessories that easily store in Yasmin’s purse. I love watching my daughters make up scenarios while using their imagination to play with their toys. It’s a total difference then when they are glued to their iPad screens mindlessly watching something.

You can purchase Bratz dolls and accessories from your local toy shop, or head over to Amazon for easy ordering.
Pretend play is very important for kids. Get them off those electronics!
