Spring is here, even though the temperatures are still confused- one week its cold, the next week it’s warmer, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Every nice day we’ve had so far, we’ve taken full advantage of. My girls love being outdoors and enjoy having a backyard. Unfortunately our back yard isn’t that big, but we try to utilize the space as best as we can. The kids have a small swing/slide combo, we have our grilling area, a sitting area, and some nice grassy area. One thing my middle daughter loves is a small house to play in, but the playhouse we had for her was getting kind of tight, so we needed to find a space saving design that was tall enough for her. After browsing the Little Tikes website for new Playhouses, we settled on the Cape Cottage Playhouse because of it’s design, color options, and size.
What sets the Little Tikes Cape Cottage Playhouse apart from other brands is the simplicity of putting the playhouse together. There are no screws, hammers, or other tools needed for the Cape Cottage Playhouse. Each piece snaps into the next, and there is a handy little tool that Little Tikes provides in the box, which helps you secure each piece. After the frame of the house is put together, the roof snaps on and is secured with lock-like pieces that simply slide into place. When my husband first saw the box to our new playhouse on the doorstep, he grunted at the amount of work he thought he would need to put into it, but he was pleasantly surprised. The Cape Cottage Playhouse took him about 20 minutes from start to finish to put together.
The Cape Cottage Playhouse features two doors, 2 windows, mail slots, and even a flag staff. The bottom is open which is great for easy cleaning and no corners for leaves and dirt to accumulate. The real test is how my girls liked it- both girls, ages 6 and 3, both in the 90th percentile for height easily fit into the Cape Cottage Playhouse. The height of the playhouse is perfect for them, and they’ve even put little stools inside the cottage so they can sit and read stories or play.
