Last week my family got to test drive the 2014 Kia Sorento. I really think that all test drives should last as long as we had the Kia Sorento (1 week) because it gives you a good amount of time to get to know a car and see if it’s the right fit for you.
Transitioning from my car to the Kia Sorento was easy, because it is a mid sized SUV. The only difference was all the bells and whistles that came along with the Kia, which are ultimately what I fell in love with and have decide I can no longer live without. Yeaup, that’s right- after a week of having the Sorento I am now itching for a newer car with all those features- maybe a Kia is in my future?
We are in the market for a mid sized SUV with three row seating. I often have other little passengers along with my daughters, so we need room for at least two more car seats. The Sorento has just that, although the third row is a bit narrow and can fit a smaller car seat. The car seats I currently have are too bulky, but as I see it my kids won’t stay little forever and eventually will comfortably fit in the backseat with no space issues. If you aren’t using the backseat, you can fold it down to allow for extra room.

The driving experience in the 2014 Kia Sorento was similar to my current 2010 mid sized SUV, with one exception- the steering wheel. I like a tight steering wheel that makes me feel in control and secure in my driving. The Sorento steering wheel was much looser and one thing I would change about the vehicle. It’s a personal preference, and I adjusted quickly- but definitely something I would like to see different in upcoming models.

My kids loved this panoramic sunroof!
The sound system is a premium Infinity system that I actually had in my old sports car years ago. Infinity can really stand up to the competitors when it comes to clear and full sound, so I was happy to see an old favorite in the new Sorento. Navigation and Sirius FM are all included in the higher model Sorento, and for a base price of 24,000, this is one car to check out if you are looking for value.
