Life with toddlers is really hard, I am sure I don’t need to tell you. There are times when you simply cannot get home in time to put baby down for a nap. My little girl often falls asleep while I am out running errands. I usually drape a receiving blanket over her stroller so she can get a restful sleep, but it often falls down and just doesn’t fit right over the stroller. Snoozeshade has to be one of the best inventions. It blocks your baby/toddler from the sun while he/she sleeps and you can peek in and check in and keep the baby sleeping. The material is very breathable, so it doesn’t create the oven effect, despite the fabric being black; it actually makes it cooler in the stroller, so that your baby isn’t roasting -especially on these hot days. I actually feel comfortable with her sleeping under the snoozeshade, rather than draping a blanket or anything else over the stroller. Best yet, they are available at my favorite online retailer, Amazon, for less than $40!
There are two options for Snoozeshade. You can get one for either the stroller or the infant carrier. I like the infant carrier the best, because when my little girl was an infant she ALWAYS fell asleep when we were out, this would have been a great way to keep her protected from the sun.
So all this time we are told that black materials ABSORB heat and to stay away from wearing dark colors in the summer. Here is what Snoozeshade explains about their products:
SnoozeShade‘s specially-woven black fabric is best because:
- darker colours naturally protect your baby’s skin from the most harmful UVA & UVB rays (if it wasn’t black we’d have to chemically treat it to give the same level of sun protection)
- it is breathable and allows great air flow and ventilation for your child and doesn’t retain heat
- it enables hot air to rise creating convection that pulls cooler air in to replace it
So, although we’d love for SnoozeShade products to be pretty and colourful, they are black because black is best.
I think this would make a great gift for anyone with a baby! They are definitely useful and much easier to use than trying to figure out how to put a receiving blanket on a stroller without slipping off!
Disclosure: I received products to facilitate my review. All opinions are my own.
You do awesome reviews. I so would have loved to have this when my kids were small. I’m thinking, “Great (and unique)shower gift.”
