Just like the majority of kids their age, my girls are more technologically advanced than I was at their age. They use electronic devices to pass their time on rainy days, learn new things, and just for fun. I do put limits on their screen time, and I also make sure that most of the games they play have some educational component. As a former teacher, I can appreciate the value that technology brings to education, so I’m not opposed to my children using technology to learn.
When I found out about Tiggly shapes, I was instantly interested. Tiggly shapes come in 4 shapes: A star, triangle, circle, and square. A soft storage bag is also included. Initially I thought it was a shape-sorter type of game play, but I was wrong. Yes, there are shape sorting games to play in the 3 apps that are currently available, but there’s also so much more. There are 3 apps that are available for free, which are Tiggly Safari, Tiggly Stamp, and Tiggly Draw. There is also a holiday Tiggly app, but that is a paid app. My daughter’s both have the same favorite, which is Tiggly Stamp. They use the shapes to start out an image. Like a circle can turn into a face, and the star can turn into a tree. I should also mention that my girls are 5 and 2, and they are both comfortable with the app and enjoy it the same, making Tiggly a great investment if you have children of various ages.
We have a screen cover on our iPad, but the Tiggly shapes have a soft bottom, so you don’t have to worry about the bottom of the shapes scratching your screen. I’m very happy with the concept and game play, and would definitely consider Tiggly shapes as a gift for the other kids in our family. Tiggly shapes is geared towards children ages 18 months to 4 years and is compatible with iPad and iPad mini.
You can purchase Tiggly shapes for $29.95 by visiting Tiggly on Amazon. Three of the apps are free, and the Christmas app is only $1.99, making Tiggly an awesome gift in a fair price range. You can follow the conversation and see what other’s are saying by checking out Tiggly on Facebook and Twitter.
