Growing up in a European family, the only oil we really used was olive oil. My mom would always warn me that olive oil burns quickly and isn’t ideal for frying, but I loved the taste of olive oil so much that I would still take the chance and cook with it anyway. I won’t lie- I constantly set off the alarm while cooking with it, and sometimes the flavor of olive oil was just too heavy. I started experimenting with other cooking oils but was disappointed. Canola oil- yuck. Then I was introduced to coconut oil. I wanted to like it- but it was heavy tasting and made everything taste like coconut. It’s not so bad when you are making some plain crispy chicken and does add a nice taste, but when I’m making eggs, I really don’t want them to taste like coconut.
I never heard of Grapeseed oil until I was asked to participate in a campaign for Pompeian grapeseed oil. I did a little research of my own to make sure this was something I wanted to feed my kids, and found that people are moving towards using grapeseed oil more and more because it has a high smoke point and is basically flavorless, never tainting the food you make.
I gave it a try, and sure enough it is odorless! I love that it came in an easy spray bottle which is eco-friendly, and didn’t contain any preservatives or other ingredients. I even use it to season my cast iron pans! I was impressed by Pompeian grapeseed oil for a number of uses in the kitchen and after this trial, I will be adding it to my list of favorite cooking oils. Pompeian Grapeseed Oil is rich in Vitamin E and antioxidants. You can find out more about Pompeian Grapeseed Oil by visiting Pompeian. I heard that Cronuts are fried in grapeseed oil. That would be reason enough to try it.
