There are some days when you have to take a step back from the whole parenting gig and just laugh. Whether you are a parent or not, you may know that parenting is not for the faint of heart. There are so many wonderful moments and experiences that engrain themselves in your soul and last a lifetime, then there are the others that are equally significant but not as magical.
Like the moment you changed your newborn for the first time and realized that regardless if you have a boy or girl, if you aren’t quick enough, you will get wet, or worse, have the aftermath of a liquid gas explosion all over you (true story.) Or maybe that moment where your 3 year old tries to put your 5 year old in time out by dragging her by the hair to her room- do you get a camera or help your 5 year old recover the rest of her hair from the 3 year old’s grip? (True story, once again)
When you start the journey of parenting, you need to be equipped with a good coffee maker and a sense of humor. If you don’t have both, you might look back on those harder years and realize you’ve taken things way too seriously and didn’t thoroughly enjoy everything that comes along with raising these miniature people with huge personalities.

It’s important to keep your sense of humor when you’re a mom. I’ll try to remember that when I’m up in the middle of the night with a newborn this fall.
