When it’s time to start making your registry and choosing a car seat, you may find yourself bombarded by all the options out there. Aside from pretty fabrics and adorable styles, safety is the #1 concern when it comes to choosing a car seat. They all adhere to the same basic safety standards, but I’ve always seemed out those companies that went beyond the standards to provide a safer and comfortable car experience for babies and their families.
When I started comparing the amount of time my girls would be in a car seat, as well as the lifespan of car seats, I decided to go with one that grew with my kids. Once they were both out of the infant car seat, they went right into rear facing convertible seats. At the time we had Diono Radian RXT seats, which have a longer expiration as compared to their competitors, as well as a longer rear-facing age and weight limit. With my first daughter, it was taboo to keep her rear facing past a year old, even though I wasn’t yet comfortable turning her. Once my second daughter came along, parents became more knowledgeable of the benefits of extended rear facing. Bottom line- it’s just safer.

Diono has now introduced their Rainier seat which is comparable to their Radian. The side impact provides a little more support in the Rainier, but the safety features I love about Diono are still all there. What sets Diono apart from other seats? STEEL frame. Not bulky, breakable plastic, but hard steel. What would you trust to keep you safe in the event of an impact?

I like everything about this car seat but am a little worried that it won’t fit rear-facing in a smaller car.
I’ve heard good things about this car seat.
