After I became a mother, my routine didn’t DRASTICALLY change. Sure, I had to plan my outings around nap times, feeding times, and the dreaded witching hour, but other than that, I found it relatively easy to get up and go with my daughter. Throw another baby in the mix and my whole world has been shaken up. I’m managing a lot better than I thought I would, but planning our outings around TWO kids, tantrums, potty runs, and the like, it’s almost not worth leaving the house some days. I need things simplified – I order groceries from a delivery company during weeks I know the weather will not be conducive to outings, or our schedule is so packed that I don’t think we will get a chance to leave the house at a reasonable time to go shopping.
Get to the drugstore? Yeah, that’s where my husband comes in. With both kids recently sick, and my toddler on a regimen of prescriptions to try to control a potential adenoid/tonsil issue, I have sent him to the pharmacy on multiple occasions, and even twice on some days. Pedialyte: Check, fever reducer: Check, prescription: there’s an app for that!
Yes, it’s true – modern technology has taken us so far that to refill a prescription, you simply scan the code from your smartphone. So, when my infant is in need of that prescription diaper rash ointment or my toddler needs her nasal spray, all I have to do is scan the bar code from their empty meds with my phone through the Duane Reade App and shoot a quick text to my hubby, “pick up kid’s meds from Duane Reade.” I don’t know if this is true about all Duane Reade’s, but the one closest to me only has a five minute wait for prescriptions. Yes- you heard that right, folks! FIVE minutes. Screaming kid? No problem! Duane Reade will have you in and out by the time you can say Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious to get your toddler to stop screaming.
Other features available on the Duane Reade app is a photo center, where you can send all your iPhone photos over to your local printing station at Duane Reade. What were you going to do with those photos? You took them for a reason, right? So print them!! Not sure where the closest Duane Reade is? The app will help you locate a store near you. This will come in handy when we travel out of state – it’s great to know that you can easily find your closest Duane Reade with just a click of a button!
