A saving grace for my family during quarantine in NYC has been our Nintendo Switch. The kids and I really got into Animal Crossing: New Horizons to the point that we’ve joined groups and forums to play the game with others. It gave us all a sense of community while being stuck indoors, and also gave them all something to look forward to after all their home-school work. A few weeks ago we received a new game for the Nintendo Switch- Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics. Believe it or not, this game has brought us all together for game nights in a new way!
When we knew we would be locked down for a few weeks, I purchased many new board games to keep the whole family entertained. What I didn’t realize was how long we would actually be in lock down, and after a while the board games were kind of boring. The kids no longer looked forward to family game nights because we did it every night, as opposed to just on the weekends like in the past. When we received our copy of Clubhouse Games, it renewed their excitement for family game time. It also allowed me to have one on one time with each child as they chose the game they wanted to play with me while we got to bond individually.
The best part is watching my kids play some of my childhood favorites together. Chinese Checkers was one of my favorites growing up, and now we can play it at home or on the go!
