Have you heard the big news!? If you’ve been following A Time Out for Mommy on Instagram, then you might have seen a special announcement. A Time Out for Mommy will be welcoming our newest little addition to the family this spring! We are so excited to share this news with you, and you might be wondering why we waited so long to make this announcement. Well, here’s what’s been going on-
A few weeks after receiving a positive pregnancy test, a sub chorionic hematoma was discovered behind my placenta. This hematoma had a tendency to cause bleeding, and during those bleeding episodes could have also caused a miscarriage. I’m not a doctor, and I can’t diagnose anyone, but from what I understand, hematomas during pregnancy are thought to be rare, but many people who have unexplained first trimester bleeding have the potential to have a hematoma causing those issues. Some hematomas are worse than others, depending on size and location. Since hematomas have their own blood supply, they should be monitored for growth. Once my hematoma was discovered I was put on modified bedrest for about a month. After the bleeding subsided, we were all able to breathe a little easier because the worst was over!
And now we wait for our arrival! We found out through a new Harmony test at 12 weeks that we are expecting a boy! The test is not a gender test, but rather a genetic test for anomalies. It’s a simple blood test that takes about 1-2 weeks to come back and has an added bonus of telling you the gender 2 months before your anatomy scan. It’s also 99% accurate. Our little prince will be welcomed by two big sisters, who just can’t wait for him to make an appearance!
Stay tuned for some fun baby reviews and giveaways up ahead!
