Although winter may have just officially started with the first real snow in NYC, I’m ready for the spring. I’m ready to ditch the layers, heavy jackets, boots and accessories and put on a pair of sandals. So, when you check out my review of umi shoes, please, don’t think I’m out of my mind for wanting to get a head start on spring time accessories.
Along with spring comes a host of parties, play dates, and special occasions. My girlie girls love to dress up and wear cute shoes, but I’m always worried their dress shoes won’t be comfortable or supportive enough. You can say I’m quite picky when it comes to what I will allow my children to wear on their feet, and that’s for good reason- their little feet are still developing and along with having proper foot support, we also have to be conscious of their growing backs. Think of it- when you wear unsupportive shoes, you not only feel it in your feet and calves, but also in your lower back. As women we make sacrifices for those hot stilettos with a sleek dress, but when it comes to children’s developing feet, I won’t compromise. They need the best in support and comfort.
My girls each received a pair of umi shoes from their spring catalog. They each picked out their own pair, my oldest daughter choosing a gold sandal called Cady, and my youngest choosing a pink sandal, Verity. I had one stipulation- they had to have closed toe shoes, for two reasons- when they play they tend to scratch their toes on the ground, causing scabbing and discomfort for a few days, and also because they are both deathly afraid of the nail clipper. No child of mine will be seen in public with overgrown toenails, so closed toe shoes it is!
The Cady sandal is simple and elegant. It can be worn with a pair of jeans or a pretty dress. My 5 year old says she feels like a princess in her shoes! You have 4 color choices in the Cady sandal: gold, white, silver, and blush pink.
The Verity sandal offers a little more support in the sole, which is great for my 2 1/2 year old who is always in a hurry to get from point a to point b. She needs a shoe that will stay in place and support her every move to prevent tripping, and Verity is perfect for that. Verity is available in fuchsia, brown, navy, and white.
Both shoes score points for versatility and above all, comfort. You can find out more about umi shoes by visiting them on the web, and connecting with them on social media: Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest
These look like really good quality and should last the entire summer. And it makes me wish I had girls. I have boys and sneakers are not as much fun.
