After cloth diapering for about a month, I realized that One Size diapers really weren’t meant to be worn from birth to potty training, no matter how trim the diaper was. When snapping a one size diaper to the smallest size, a lot of bulk is created in the material, plus the elastic around baby’s little legs isn’t enough to contain messes. Newborn diapers may only be worn for a few weeks, so some people opt out of the added expense and choose to use disposables until baby is ready for a one size diaper.
AppleCheeks has a simple solution to the one size diaper dilemma: 2-size diapers. 2-Size diapers are exactly what they sound like; size 1 fits babies from 7-20 lbs and size 2 fits from 18-40 lbs. By creating two sizes, you can fit a wider range of babies and still help out the environment by cloth diapering. The inner microfleece layer is soft against baby’s skin and you have a choice of bamboo or hemp inserts – depending on your preference.
My favorite feature of AppleCheeks diapers is the gathered elastic around the legs. this creates a custom but snug fit and prevents leaks from getting through. After cloth diapering with pocket diapers for a few weeks, I decided pockets weren’t for me because I didn’t like to pull out the soiled insert at each diaper change. AppleCheeks takes this step out, by creating a pocket large enough that the insert comes out on its own in the wash – GENIUS! Let’s not forget about their large array of colors and patterns to choose from – this is my favorite part of cloth diapering!
Overall I loved the AppleCheeks system and feel is it a smart cloth diapering solution from newborns to potty training. They solved the “one size” cloth diaper issue as well as the “unstuff the soiled diaper” issue.
