Some people celebrate Christmas, others, Hanukah. My friends and I: we celebrate coffee. Most of us are or were teachers, so we know the importance of this miracle drink when you have to be at work around 7am while others are just waking up at that time. I may no longer be a teacher, but as a mommy who is always on the go with a toddler that has more energy than any one person should ever possess, coffee is sometimes my sanity saver in the morning (and afternoon.)
After my infant was born and my toddler started summer programs, I found myself running out of the house each morning. I had everything I needed for the girls but often left out necessities for myself. My hair would go back in a ponytail, my makeup was non existent, and my coffee? Well, who had time for THAT? I kept wishing my local coffeehouse would deliver, just so I could order my coffee while I was getting the girls ready and just GO! Drive through isn’t an option in NYC, and standing in line at a coffeehouse with two kids? Well, that won’t work either. And then I found my match made in heaven; International Delight’s Iced Coffee. MMM.. My sanity (or whatever is left) can return!
So, I rounded up my closest friends last weekend to celebrate National Coffee Day. I never explicitly told them why they were invited, but soon after everyone arrived I asked them what they would do if they were rushed out of the house and didn’t have a chance to make or stop for coffee. Most of them looked at me with wide eyes and an open mouth. They didn’t get it. You mean, start a day without coffee?!? ARE YOU INSANE!?!? I told them how I found myself coffee-less most mornings and I had to find a solution. I brought out the International Delight Iced Coffee containers and started telling them a little more about it. I happen to be in the 62% of people that actually drink iced coffee all year long. One other guest agreed with me- she HAD to have her coffee cold, and this is why she stopped at a coffeehouse EVERY morning. I was a little surprised that people are able to fork over about $5 each day (if not more) for iced coffee when they could just make it at home, or better yet, just pour it out of a container!
I gave everyone a sample to taste and gauge their reactions. I had the Mocha flavor on hand because apparently, EVERYONE in my neighborhood has caught wind about how easy it is to grab some International Delight Iced Coffee in the morning, and there were only two containers left, both Mocha flavored. One guest stated that it tasted like a chocolate milkshake with a coffee twist. Out of 9 girls that were there, only one didn’t like the flavor, and she also said she just wasn’t a fan of mocha in general, so this could be why she didn’t like the coffee. Everyone else loved it and said that this would save them a lot of time in the morning. We were all impressed that International Delight uses Arabica beans for a taste that is sure to please.
I asked the girls to come up with some fun catch phrases for International Delight’s Iced Coffee. Below you can see some fun stuff the girls came up with!
