Although most of my meals are made from scratch, which is the way I prefer, motherhood has taken a toll on the amount of time I have to get everything I need to get done on most days. I finally understand what people mean when they say “there just aren’t enough hours…” This is me on most days, especially since my toddler has started school. By the time we get home from school, do homework, take baths, and settle in, the clock has been ticking and it’s 6pm before I know it. On a good day, I would love to see dinner on the table at 6pm. On a REAL day, dinner may make it to the table at 8pm 7pm. It’s not something I’m proud of, but as long as everyone’s belly is full, that’s all that really matters.
The reason I don’t like to lean on frozen meals as a crutch to help put dinner on the table each night is because I’m not into overly processed, salt laden foods. I like to know what goes into my meals, and if you see a crazy person spending an hour at the supermarket reading labels, it’s me! The worst is when I read all the ingredients, everything looks good, and then I bring home some all-natural frozen food only to find out it tastes like cardboard. BLEH! And then if it does taste good, it’s probably full of fat and chemicals.
Turns out, I was wrong… about a lot of things. My hubby might use this moment as an opportunity to nitpick about this and that, but let’s stick with the topic of dinner, frozen dinners to be exact. When I was asked to check out Healthy Choice frozen entrees, I wasn’t expecting much. When I got to the supermarket’s frozen section which had an entire freezer dedicated to Healthy Choice frozen meals, I still didn’t expect much. When I started reading the packages from a few of the meals, I started to get intrigued. Words like “all natural” “pure” “simple” and “no preservatives” caught my eye and before you know it, I tossed a package of Healthy Choice Tortellini Primavera Pasta in the shopping cart, and went on about my shopping.
My opinion (which may differ from yours) is that Healthy Choice entrees, or at least the one I tried, is delicious. Just the right amount of flavor and a perfect portion size to satisfy a hungry belly for lunch or dinner. Healthy Choice recipes are chef-inspired and instead of adding sugar or salt, they use other methods to add flavor, such as apples or red wine! (Does your frozen entree do that?) With an extensive line of varieties and flavors, you are sure to find something that tantalizes even the pickiest tastebuds. (be sure to check out Marie Callendar’s meals too- they are part of who brings all this delicious flavor to the table!)
frozen meals give families access to real ingredients like crunchy, freshly cut vegetables, homemade pasta and ripe fruit year-round. Just like most people blanch veggies before freezing them – ConAgra Foods does too – to help preserve color, texture and keep them fresh!
Give it a try sometime! Marie Callender’s hearty pot pies are filled with tender meat, freshly cut vegetables and Marie’s authentic golden, flaky crust. And Healthy Choice recipes use chef-inspired ingredients like, apples instead of sugar for tart sweetness and a splash of red wine for a punch of flavor instead of added salt.

I use these meals quite often to keep me on track when I don’t have time to cook.

That looks pretty good. I would have to pair it up with a salad. Frozen dinners don’t typically fill me up.
