Now that I have two babies to tote around, I need a sturdy double stroller that is appropriate for a toddler and an infant. When it comes to double strollers for two different aged kids, there is much to take into consideration. For starters, you need to know that the stroller can accomodate both children’s weights and distribute them evenly throughout the stroller. This is especially important when it comes to side by side strollers because the weight of one child may make an unstable stroller sink to one side.

Different children, different needs. The Maclaren has various customizable optons to accomodate different aged babies.
Another thing to take into consideration is how long you can use the stroller for. What are the weight limits? Will my toddler be squished? Will my infant be supported? All these questions are very important in order to base your decision on the best double stroller for different aged babies.
When I had my first baby, Maclaren was a name I had heard of but didn’t really have experience with. I decided to go for a cheaper stroller and soon found myself in the market for another stroller. I managed to get a Maclaren Techno XT and wondered why I waited so long to buy that stroller. It was by far the best single stroller I had for many reasons. It was an umbrella stroller that acted like a full sized stroller. It was easy to store in the car, easy to store behind our apartment door, easy open, easy fold, and great for busy city streets or trips to the amusement park. It was strong and durable. For all these reasons, I knew that the Maclaren Twin Techno would be a great stroller when my newest baby came along. I already knew and trusted the Maclaren name and I knew these strollers were built to last.
When the Maclaren Twin Techno showed up, putting it together took only a few minutes. It came fully assembled with the exception of the canopy and the infant inserts. There were a few features that differed between my Maclaren Single and Twin, such as an extended canopy on my single- which I miss when we are out in full sun. The Maclaren Twin, however, took into consideration that babies easily slip through some stroller straps and created a mesh sack to keep them in place. This is also great to securely tuck a blanket in to keep baby warm, or keep mosquitoes away.

Great double stroller for the park! My toddler wouldn’t sit for a picture to see the size difference, but you can see how well the stroller supports an infant
The Twin Techno also came with a boot to keep kids warm in the winter. This will come in handy for our trips to Rockefeller Center in the colder months. My toddler is about 30 pounds and my infant is about 16 pounds, which means the weight has to be distributed without having my infant sink towards my toddler. The stroller stands up to the weight test and doesn’t buckled at all when my toddler sits in her seat. The Twin Techno has a maximum capacity of 110 lbs and can accomodate babies from birth and up. It features a 5 position recline and each seat reclines independently. The canopies are also independent, and can be adjusted to suit each child’s needs.
As far as a heavy double stroller, I can tell you that they are ALL heavy, and they are ALL bulky. There is not one double stroller that I have seen that isn’t cumbersome. Since the Twin Techno is an umbrella fold, it does fold smaller than other double strollers, but it is long. It weighs about 27 lbs.
Overall I am very happy with the Maclaren Twin Techno as a stroller for everyday use. I fit through every door I have gone through, which makes this side by side stroller a great choice in double strollers! You can purchase the Maclaren Twin Techno at most baby retailers nationwide. You can find out more information at Maclaren Baby.
