Moving….here we go!

 

It’s starting to set in. We are actually moving. I have the boxes piled up in the living room and the bubble wrap is just sitting there looking at me as if to say, “ok, let’s get this show on the road!”. And there’s my kitchen, with all my cabinets full of every kind of cooking aid you could imagine, just taunting me. I imagine it’s saying, “HA! I dare you to attempt to get everything packed with 3 kids and a dog needing you every moment of the day!”. I won’t even tell you what I think the basement and garage are saying. I think they are working together to bring me down. We’ll, I’m in luck. I have parents that can come and keep the kids occupied/distracted/entertained while they are in the house. I also have the boys in school giving me lots of welcome freedom during the day to pack.

One thing that’s put my mind at ease is the task of finding a moving company. Our first and only interview was with Morris Moving and Storage http://www.morrismoving.com/. We were so impressed with Jacob Morris and his company that we didn’t need to meet with anyone else. This family business dates back to 1898 in New York and has been passed down through three generations. He helped make a stressful situation a little more pleasant and I’m actually excited about getting packed up and moving on. We even recommended him to friends of ours in the area who are also preparing for a big move.

Now, back to the daunting task of packing! I’m starting in the kitchen, working my way through the insane amount of toys we have, and then tackling the clothes/bedrooms. I’m leaving the garage and basement for hubby. Does anyone out there have packing tips for me? I’d love to hear them.
