When I was a teen working in banking, I often did “coffee runs” for my coworkers. Some may have called me a gopher, but I really loved taking a few minutes away from work. With my pen and paper, I went to each person and asked what they wanted. One manager always said the same thing “Get my coffee right. I want it the same color as my skin- don’t make it too light, and don’t make it too dark.” She would pull back her sleeve and show me her tanned arm each time she explained how she wanted her coffee. I always had to laugh when she said this because she was so specific. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized the color of my coffee DID matter. If it was too light, it didn’t tickle my tastebuds. If it was too dark, it was too bitter to drink. Even now, an avid coffee drinker, I find myself turned off by coffee if it’s not the right color, and when it LOOKS perfect, I enjoy it more.
You will always find International Delight creamers in my fridge, and sometimes in bulk if I find a great sale. My favorite is Hazelnut. It reminds me of the days I lived with my parents and we would all sit together on a Saturday morning in the foyer and chat. My mom always had International Delight Hazelnut in the fridge, and while we tried other flavors, that is always the one we went back to. Until, of course, International Delight came out with Almond Joy. Ok, so maybe Almond Joy is my favorite, but my local grocery store doesn’t stock it, EVER, so unless I find it in my travels, or have someone pick it up for me in their travels, I usually don’t have it. (A note to my local grocery stores: PLEASE start stocking International Delight Almond Joy!)
Here’s a great seasonal flavor: Pumpkin Pie Spice! I was shocked to see this flavor in my mom’s fridge because she is a creature of habit (it was right next to her ID Hazelnut!) If you are a fan of Pumpkin Spice, be sure to check out this flavor!
International Delight has come up with their Fifty shades of International Delight. Check them out on Pinterest. My International Delight Coffee Shade is number 26: Steamy Swirls. I can just smell my coffee now: the medium roast blending with the sweet hazelnut flavor- hotter than warm but not too hot that I burn my tongue- I can have this all day long!
Which shade are you? Go to International Delight’s Fifty Shades Pinterest board and find and share your shade of I.D.!
