There are some baby items that you may not put much thought into, and then there are others that you research until you are on information overload! Infant toys may seem to be a no brainer, but did you know that newborns can’t see too well? Once the fuzziness is gone and their eyes start working, they love to focus on three main colors: black, white, and red. after a few weeks, your infant can start to see more vibrant colors and may even respond to some toys.
Lamaze has an extensive line of infant toys that appeal to baby’s new senses- from bright colors and rattle sounds to more tactile features like soft plush or crinkly material. Just recently, Lamaze toys were featured in the hit movie, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” and there is no wonder why- they have so many features and appeal to babies and moms alike! I was sent three of the toys that were featured in the movie: Hula Girl, Stretch the Giraffe, and Octivity Time.
My newest baby is almost two months old and loves staring at her giraffe while she is in her car seat. It was very easy to attach to the car seat handle and the bright colors are very attractive to her. The Hula Girl attaches really easy to strollers that have a tray, and since my little one isn’t up to that stage yet, we just hold it in front of her during tummy time. She has even reached out to her a few times! The Octivity Time is also a great tummy time toy and has a few features that are for older babies, around 6-12 months which includes a mirror, rattle, and a turning star. Ironically, my almost 3 year old who enjoys video games has a lot of fun playing with this cute little octopus!
