Yesterday afternoon my 3 year old asked me if I can swap her little chocolate candies that she receives as a treat, for UNREAL chocolate covered peanuts. “GLADLY” I told her! She doesn’t understand why I would eagerly swap out her candy, but it doesn’t really matter. In the end, she still receives her little treat that brightens her day, and now that I switched ALL the chocolate in my home to UNREAL chocolate, I feel better about giving her a sweet treat.
If you’ve been following my blog, then you know that High Fructose Corn Syrup is banned from my home. So are artificial colors and flavors. Yes, I am aware that my toddler’s little chocolate treats wrapped in a candy shell did contain these banned ingredients, but I was hoping that by limiting her intake, she wouldn’t be affected. I felt that there were no other options. While I was able to get her vitamins without the “bad” ingredients, and snacks for school that also didn’t contain these ingredients, I found it difficult to give my little chocoholic the tiny pieces of heaven she craved without all the bad chemicals.
It would only be a matter of time before someone came up with the idea to unjunk our candy. Take out the colors, preservatives, artificial flavors, high fructose corn syrup and what are you left with? Candy you don’t feel guilty about indulging in. When I was a student, a candy bar with peanuts, nougat, and caramel wrapped in chocolate would stave off my hunger until I got home. I also felt heavy, bloated, nauseas, and had bouts of heartburn after eating these candy bars, but I was hungry and it satisfied my craving. My favorite candy bar has been remade with REAL ingredients after it received it’s UNREAL makeover and to be completely honest, I don’t feel heavy, bloated, or nauseas after eating these bars!
So, I put these bars to the test. I invited some friends and family over this past weekend for the kids to play, the adults to schmooze, and to introduce the new UNREAL line of chocolate. I didn’t tell anyone about the candy, but I simply cut up a candy bar and asked everyone to taste it. I asked them what they thought of it and they were all puzzled. They didn’t understand that it was an UNREAL candy bar that tasted very similar to it’s counterpart. I started to explain what was in the candy bar they ate, versus the candy bar they were use to. There were MANY raised eyebrows and a comment from one guest that stated “this candy bar tastes JUST like the ‘real’ one but I don’t feel like crap after I eat it” My job here is done. They get it, they loved it, and now, they are more aware about “healthy” junk food.
I was actually surprised to see UNREAL candy in my local CVS a few days before the party. I love that they are easy to find and available just about everywhere. The best part- they cost around the same as the OTHER brands. So you can get ALL that junk taken out of your candy and not pay a fortune? Sign me up!

I have not tried these but wanted to! I hope I will!
I’ve never heard of these! But I will try ’em on my next stop at CVS. Thank you for sharing! I figure if kids are asking for them I am REALLY in!!!
I’ve heard about these recently, but haven’t seen them, yet. I’ll definitely check for them at CVS. My son doesn’t get to eat too much candy, so this would be nice!
I haven’t tried these yet but really want too.
These look great!
Sounds good!
