I recently had an epiphany- I think I expect my toddler to eat too much. What made me realize this? I made her an almond butter sandwich and she didn’t finish it. I thought she wasn’t eating enough and then I realized I would eat the same size sandwich and feel full. I had to reassess her diet and how much she was eating, as well as how much I expected her to eat. Since she doesn’t like to eat breakfast, I felt that she wasn’t getting enough nutrients. Turns out, she’s eating just fine. She makes up all her nutrients by dinner time by snacking on fruits and veggies, so I started stressing less about her nutrition.
Some of her healthy snacking includes items from the Earth’s Best line such as Pop Snax, Smoothies, and Tot Snacks. I feel that our day goes much smoother now that I’m not stressed about her diet, and I don’t try to force-feed her or bribe her throughout the day. She is a perfectly normal toddler when it comes to eating and has typical food aversions. Although her food choices are limited, they are healthy, so I have eased up on stressing over meal time.
