We are trading up the hot cocoa for ice cream now that warmer days seem to be here for good- or until October. There's nothing like a simple vanilla ice cream- it can be dressed up with all your favorite toppings or eaten on it's own. My favorite way to enjoy vanilla ice cream is with chocolate and almond pieces, like the Häagen-Dazs Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond Bars. Since we had amazing weather this weekend, I sent my husband to Stop ...

Jump In Muddy Puddles for a Great Cause! #PeppaMuddyPuddleChallenge
Did you know that April 1st was National Jump in Muddy Puddles Day? My little guy celebrated this past weekend when he discovered a puddle and decided to go full force into it. He doesn't seem to mind the wet socks as much as I do. Since you already know Peppa Pig is one of my kids' favorite shows, then you might guess where he got the idea to jump into puddles from. His favorite TV pig, Peppa, loves jumping in muddy puddles. There's even a The ...

Candyless Easter Baskets
Disclosure- This post contains affiliate links. I feel like I've been making candyless Easter Baskets from before they were even trendy. Yes, I'm THAT mom- the one who doesn't want her kids to devour 5 pounds of Easter Candy within 5 minutes- because that's exactly what's going to happen if I fill up our kids Easter Baskets with candy. When my girls were still babies, I would fill their Easter Baskets with all their summer needs- like swim ...
Teaching the Importance of Reducing Waste and Making a Difference #TossTheTube
My girls both look forward to the toilet paper ending because they like to craft with the tubes. The only problem is we go through A LOT of toilet paper and we end up with way more toilet paper tubes than they can use. I see the tubes adding up in the garbage and I wonder about all the waste. While making a craft out of the tube is a great way to teach about recycling, I think we need to take the lesson a step further and teach kids about ...
Celebrating the Release of Rogue One
If you are a Star Wars fan then this post is for you. We have some spoilers below, so turn away if you haven't seen Rogue One yet (But really, who hasn't!?) Last weekend we had an epic Twitter battle between The Empire and The Rebel Alliance. I was on The Empire team and had fun joining the dark side. We watched the movie on our Roku Stick after loading the movie code onto our Disney Movies Anywhere (DMA) account. If you haven't used DMA and you ...
Early Learning with Unlikely Tools
When my oldest daughter started pre-k, I thought it was my job to teach her all about her letters. Her teachers insisted I leave the learning to them, but I soon learned that common core in a Montessori pre-k class meant they don't rigidly teach the alphabet or letter sounds. She caught up in kindergarten, but I was left a little disenchanted by what the school felt was developmentally appropriate and what wasn’t. Just for reference, in place of ...

We purchased our home almost 4 years ago and thought we were done with everything once our summer kitchen was updated. I didn't update the refrigerator in the summer kitchen and brought it with us when we moved from our previous ...
